How Can a Ghostwriter Make You a Bestseller?

People who are experts in their field are experts in their field because they have vast amounts of experience and take the time to learn the latest innovations in their area.  This is time consuming: hard work is directly related to success and knowledge.

When we are not experts, but we want to be, we look to the experts to teach us.  We go to their lectures, watch their videos, and buy their books. 

So how do these busy experts find the time to write the books that we buy?

I’ll let you in on a little secret: they don’t.  They hire ghostwriters. 

Like ghosts, ghostwriters are invisible.  No one except you and the ghostwriter need know that the ghostwriter even exists.  A good ghostwriter will listen to the expert, and translate their ideas and knowledge into a product labeled with the expert’s name that can be sold on line or at lectures – or even be a vehicle to get the speaking engagement in the first place.  And no one has to know that you didn’t write the book. 

Bear in mind: this is not cheating.  The ghostwriter is not someone who is writing your history paper for you in 10^th grade so you can go hang out by the creek.  These are all your ideas, your research, your expertise.  All the ghostwriter is doing is putting it in a readable format for you.  This makes your ideas portable.

For example: I had one client* who was a retired police officer who worked in the sex crimes detective unit for many years.  He now makes his living travelling to law enforcement conferences lecturing on the investigation of sex crimes, and is well known as an expert in his field.  He wanted to have a book detailing what he knew that he could sell at lectures, and that people who were unable to attend his lectures could buy.  He chose me as his ghostwriter because of my experience as an attorney and a legal ghostwriter.  I could understand his lingo and short hand and was able to fill in the details of his outline from my own personal knowledge.  I was able to get the 80 page book written for him in less than two weeks.  It was published as an Amazon Kindle book, and within 24 hours it was a number one bestseller in its category.  Later, the paperback came out and was also a bestseller. 

You don’t have to have time to write the book to write it.  Don’t just be the expert.  Be the expert that wrote the book.
