BOOK REVIEW: Food: A Love Story April 10, 2015
Food: A Love Story by Jim Gaffigan.
Comedian Jim Gaffigan loves food. By his words, he’s not so much a foodie as an ‘eatie.’ This means that he doesn’t so much like good food as quantities of food. This is a guy who considers “All You Can Eat” as a challenge. This book is an ode to pizza and fast food and microwave food and steak and fried things.
The premise has the potential to wear thin quickly, but Gaffigan is funny enough to pull it off. It helps, I think, if you’re familiar with him and can hear the book in your mind’s ear(?) in his distinctive voice. Fluffy and fun, it made me laugh. And sometimes, I think that’s all I’ve ever wanted.
